Publishing With a Plan: Professional Through Peer Review and Revision
Understanding the peer review process and mastering the art of responding appropriately to feedback from expert reports are crucial steps for success in the academic publication process.
This workshop provides the knowledge and some strategies to master these critical phases with confidence and professionalism. Together we will develop a tool that you can use again and again for peer review management, but also for collegial text feedback.
Contents:
Structuring the revision process:
- You will learn how to organise the revision process in order to adequately consider feedback from all expert reports.
- You will develop an efficient workflow and schedule for revisions.
Effective revision of articles:
- You will understand the decision criteria for editing specific points that are often raised by expert reports.
- You will learn how to deal with conflicting feedback and recognise the limits of revision.
Writing an effective author's response Letter (ARL):
- You will be able to recognise the common challenges of writing an ARL.
- You will learn strategies for justifying and documenting changes to the manuscript in an organised way.
- You will learn the essential components and format of an ARL.
Note:
Please bring an article and the corresponding reviewer reports to the workshop. Ideally, we will work on your specific subject/case.
Target group and course language:
Doctoral students & scientific authors who have already brought at least one article through the review process or have accompanied this process.
